What is a Resident?
About Residents
Specialist in Family Medicine
Family Medicine specialists provide comprehensive health care for the individual and family. We are qualified to diagnose and treat most illnesses and provide care for everyone—from newborns to seniors.
Resident Doctor
A doctor who has completed medical school and is currently in their three-year training program called residency. They are fully licensed to practice medicine under daily, direct supervision of our attending doctors to make sure you get the best care possible.
Attending Doctor
A board-certified doctor who has completed all of their medical training and is supervising the resident doctors involved with your care.
Training and Duration
Family medicine residency training typically lasts three years after completing medical school.
During this period, resident doctors rotate through various clinical settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, emergency departments and specialty services to gain exposure to diverse patient populations and medical conditions. The residency curriculum covers care areas such as adult medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, behavioral health, geriatrics, preventive medicine and medical procedures.
